CALVIN YORDY::lost in the dirac sea

Calvin Yordy is a band fronted by Calvin Yordy, an American musician, artist and animator.

In 2006, Yordy (b. Jesse J. Atwell) was a solo musician in Brooklyn, NY. He released a lo-fi EP entitled Bedroom Recordings. Inspired by acts like Daniel Johnston, The White Stripes and Bishop Allen, Bedroom Recordings was a personal statement that resonated with purists. All the songs on the EP were recorded in one take with one microphone. Bedroom Recordings is no longer available.

In early 2007, Calvin Yordy moved from Brooklyn to Olathe, KS to focus on writing Lost in the Dirac Sea (PART 1), a 5 song EP. Calvin Yordy recruited regional up-and-comers Stev0 LaCerte (drums) and Trenton Shaft (bass) to form the band. Wally Dover has since taken over bass.

Recorded and mixed by Nick Day (The Only Children, The Cavaliers) at Black Lodge Recording in Eudora, KS, Lost in the Dirac Sea (PART 1) is Yordy’s most aggressive, rock-driven sentiment to date. The EP was mastered by Doug Van Sloun (Bright Eyes, The Faint, Azure Ray) at Focus Mastering in Omaha, NE.

Lost in the Dirac Sea (PART 1) features:
1. Fossil Jaw (4:01)
2. Boojum (4:42)
3. Gravity of You (3:33)
4. Out of the Fields (4:51)
5. Blood and Roses (2:55)

Calvin Yordy will be recording their debut CD//LP this May with Producer David Percefull (David Cook, Bowling for Soup, Caroline’s Spine, Zac Maloy, Phil Marshall) at yellow DOG Studios in Austin, TX.

Calvin Yordy plays on VOX amplifiers and Fender guitars.

Dave fucking rules; the sessions are going incredibly smooth and we are ahead of schedule. The songs are sounding amazing. This is going to be a helluva record! Dave can take a band of drunk chimps and make a killer record . . . oh wait . . . Yellow DOG Studios is located in the West Hills of Austin. Lots of trees and wild life surround us. sorry took so long to get back, was in Vermont, my home town, on vacation.. no computer, no online, what a serious life altering stint, I missed hearing new music on Fuzz and conversing with great musician's. I will have to think this one out for future vaca's.... anyway, running your tracks and I must say, very sweet, this is my kind of overall kick ass solid music.. I really dig this sound and you guys definitely have what it takes, much love Jostel

Thanks for your comments and time on my page. Checked out ALL of your tracks and I must say I really like your sound. I also agree with your attitude towards "I like it Or I don't Like it." As an artist if you are TRUE to what you are trying to convey and there are no gimmicks or "images." There is nothing left to do but allow those who are "willing" an opportunity inside your world. Thanks again and take care.
